New capbilities from the Pandemic Laboratory Preparedness (PLP) program
Published: 2026-03-12
The Pandemic Laboratory Preparedness (PLP) program is a major part of SciLifeLab’s pandemic preparedness efforts. It funds the development of capabilities that support and complement the pandemic preparedness efforts of Sweden’s authorities, municipalities, and regions, among others.
In June 2025, the PLP program launched a new funding call (PLPTDP25) for Technology Development Projects (TDPs). The aim of this call was to enable the development of capabilities that would allow a more rapid response to emerging infectious diseases. The call therefore specifically supported capabilities that are scalable, sustainable, and ready for real-world deployment. Areas of particular interest were; diagnostics and analysis of infectious diseases, analysis of immune responses during infections and vaccination, and studies of drug resistance development in infectious agents.
Twelve capabilities were funded as a result of this call, information about these capabilities is now available in the PLP capabilities section. These capabilities will be funded until at least September 2027.
